OUR PROJECTS

THE CHALLENGE

We live in a world where young people are faced with many challenges and there is no simple solution to these complex matters. It has however been statistically proven that there is a direct correlation between low levels of education and poverty.

Poverty poses a real threat to the pursuit of social cohesion, and personal and social development i.e. violence and crime are directly related to poverty.

THE CHALLENGE

THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION

Research shows, that there are significant differences in levels of poverty among the adult population when examined against the level of education they attained.

Only 6.0% of individuals with an education level higher than matric were living in poverty. In stark contrast, those individuals with little or no education suffered significantly higher levels of poverty. More than three-quarters (78.5%) of adults with no formal schooling are poorer, as are seven out of every ten (70.5%) adults with some primary school education.

The relationship between education and poverty is undeniable.

THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION

THE GOAL

How do we address these challenges?

We can’t all be educationists but we can all get involved in education. We, at the Nolands Foundation, believe it’s our mandate to do all we can to focus on the holistic development of young people. A high percentage of learners leave school in grades 10 and 11. Our goal is to give these learners the foundation to complete their schooling. We echo the words of Mr Nelson Mandela:

“Education is the greatest engine of personal development.
It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor,
that the son of a mineworker can become the head of a mine,
that a child of a farm worker can become the president of a great nation.
It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given,
that separates one person from another”

THE GOAL

INSIDE OUT

Currently, we collaborate with several organisations that are already making a difference in the educational space. We therefore operate from the inside out. Our partners already have a footprint, all we do is come alongside them enabling them to maximise their reach.

We are proud that our leadership, staff and clients are collectively adding massive value. Harnessing this collective energy allows us the opportunity to maximise what we do and make a difference in our communities. We would like to invite you to join us in our quest by joining the Nolands Foundation 100 Club.

INSIDE OUT
Foundation Club

In 2021 The Nolands Foundation launched The 100 Club. Unlike most clubs, this one is made up of companies and individuals who would like to partner with us to raise the next generation of leaders. The 100 Club is not exclusive, in fact, all are welcome.

To join, you simply have to be committed to making a difference in the lives of the young people we work with. Easy!

An invitation to join the 100 Club

Although thousands of people have benefitted from the work we do, we’d like to do so much more. Instead of trying to raise funds project by project, our goal is to create a sustainable income stream which will allow us to plan accordingly.

The projects we work on are life-changing, and we’d therefore like to invite you and your company to join us in our quest. Doing so will help these initiatives become scalable, effective and transformational.

Our Steps

Our steps to encourage our clients to become proactive are the following:

  • 01

    Look at transformation strategically.

  • 02

Structure a B-BBEE Strategy that fits with the company's long-term goals before the next verification falls due.

  • 03

Look for ways to fulfil short-term goals. We’re able to guide clients on how to achieve short-term wins that are well within most companies’ strategies and capabilities.

  • 04

Take a broader view of B-BBEE that will contribute to meaningful economic transformation and growth.

  • 05

Allow the Nolands Foundation to prepare your organisation to not only meet, but to maximise its compliance goals.

  • 06

The Nolands Foundation works with organisations who do amazing work. We have verified and approved these organisations, as they can provide real impact and maximum B-BBEE and SED points for clients.

  • 07

    Most importantly, make a difference.

Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.
